Fishing
pond behind the house
|
The
River Trent (0.5mile), is ideal for fishing and the
Trent Valley way has a beautiful walk along its banks
and can form part of a circular stroll, ideal to blow
away the cobwebs after a large Sunday roast
dinner.

Sundown
Adventure is brilliant for younger children with a
Castle that smells of chocolate & toffees and rides
through Santas Grotto all year round, offering good
value for a family day out (3miles).
Also
for children and the young at heart, not far away are
the coastal resorts of Skegness & Mablethorpe, with
great, safe clean beaches and all the usual attractions
of a seaside resort.

Lincoln
Cathedral |
Lincoln
is very close (15mins)
across the toll bridge at a cost of 25p. Here you will
find a wealth of history with Castles, Cathedrals, Steep
Streets and Museums. It is an excellent shopping
paradise with unusual and unique shops selling
everything from fabrics to wines, second hand books and
prints to clothes. The nightlife is good with clubs,
pubs and restaurants as well as theatres, cinemas,
football and an indoor play centre for adventurous
children.

Golf
courses are at Retford, Gainsborough,
Horse
racing is at Doncaster, Market Rasen, Nottingham.
Robin
Hood's 'Great Oak' is nearby in Sherwood Forest (20mins), here
you can explore Clumber Park, hire bicycles for the day, walk
with the 'giants' and visit the visitor centre. Nottingham has
caves, lace and a famous cricket ground and has a reputation
for night life. The best teashop in the UK is in Ollerton
(20mins), ice cream from Thaymar is served in Harrods and the
Tuxford Windmill still grinds flour only when the wind blows
and does an excellent tour to show you how.

Go-Ape
Course |
Groups
may prefer something a little more unusual such as
'Go-Ape' in Sherwood Forest, where you can walk a
tight-rope 50ft in the air and swing through the trees
like Tarzan.

|

X-scape
at Castleford |
Or,
for those adrenalin junkies, a little further afield is
X-scape, offering an indoor snow slope where you can
toboggan, snow board or learn to ski all year round.
Great fun for a group of friends. |

A
lesser known, but beautiful town is Newark which has a
myriad of historic buildings to explore. Visit the town
on market day for a real treat, or take time out to go
to the Showground when the largest antiques fair in
Europe is in full swing. |
There's
lots to see and do in the area. For details on these and more ideas
